The Cheating Hearts are based around Manchester/ Lancs. We do a mixture of what has become known as roots music – Country, Soul, Blues, Folk, Rock n Roll etc etc. Covers but they all sound like us. Think Steve Earle, Creedence, The Faces, LIndisfarne, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, The Band, Little Feat, Neil Young – you know the sort of thing. We try to steer away from the usual pub-rock repertoire without being too obscure.
We’re pretty well established – and pretty good, too – and get some decent quality work, though we’re not going to be turning pro anytime soon! Regular pub and club gigs, festivals and a pleasing number of private parties etc.
You’d definately be a featured player, as it were, rather than just playing pads and adding colour and you’d need to have a level of improvisory ability and not be afraid of the limelight, solo wise.
Vocals an def advantage, though not a deal breaker as we have two good strong singers already.
We have a very long song-list – 100+ – and we rarely rehearse (though obviously we’d do a few to get you bedded in). We have a large archive of live recordings that we’d let you have. You’d be welcome to bring your own song ideas along.
