About Michael
Michael Wright is a double & electric bass player who prides himself on his versatile technique, dedication to the authentic and professional work ethic.
Michael started performing at a young age and got the chance to tour with his school Motown tribute band in Washington and New York, USA. He left school to continue his music education at Access To Music and British Academy Of New Music, between his studies Michael was a prominent part of the music scene in the East Midlands and London.
Before deciding to study for a BMus Jazz Michael was offered the head bass tutor position at Access To Music and was proud to pass on his experience to students to help them achieve their qualifications.
Michael completed his degree at Birmingham Conservatoire and Middlesex University where he studied under respected musicians Nikki Isles, Dave Holland, Jean Tousaint, Arnie Somogyi Stuart Hall, Fred Baker, Gene Calderatizo and Chris Batchelor. In between his studies he also taught again at Yamaha Music School to add to his academic experience.
Upon graduating Michael has travelled around the world as a resident performer with Princess Cruises, Intercontinental Hotel Dubai, P&O and also worked studio projects with Grammy nominated duo Walking Aurora and Brit award winner Dizzie Rascal. Michael is proud to have played with some of the musicians in the UK and learnt from the best in the music business.
