The Chimps proudly place themselves in a strangely rare, almost extinct branch of punk. Not Oi, not hardcore, not ska-punk, not crusty…It’s a sound that harks back to the buzzsaw riffs of Buzzcocks, the pure pop sensibilities of the Undertones, back through the Ramones and a bit of Stiff Little Fingers thrown in for good measure.
