Scowlin Owl are an all-female band who love harmonies, folk, blues & bluegrass, americana and alt-country.
We write and perform our own stuff, mainly with a story to them. Though we try to avoid cliches about love ‘n’ drinkin’, we do like a little murder….
Anyway we’re looking for a replacement high range singer (we all sing in the band, but we need someone with a higher vocal range who can sing the highest harmonies).
Being able to harmonise naturally/pretty quickly is a MUST, you’ll have probably sung harmonies with others before in a choir or band. You also need an ability to have a laugh 🙂
If you can also play an instrument like guitar, mandolin, fiddle or keys even better but the ability to sing harmonies is the main thing we need.
Our influences are wide but include Iris Dement, Joan Baez, Gillian Welch, The Carter Family, The Unthanks, The Beatles, Ennio Morricone, The Decemberists, Dolly Parton, The Band, Townes van Zandt, Midlake, Fleet Foxes…
Listen to our stuff at www.reverbnation/scowlinowl or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scowlinowl
We get together every Wednesday evening in a studio in Stoke Newington. Once we have our new singer we’ll be gigging again and then recording and album. Join us!
