Lead guitar wanted for cool (ish) established covers band

We play songs girls like, but we play ‘em how boys like.

That means when we go hard we sound (almost) like a metalcore band, only playing a Justin Derulo tune or some other current pop song.

It’s not all like though. A lot of the set is just pretty rocky/funky.

We mostly live and rehearse in Watford but we have a member in Brentwood. Standard gigs are usually no more than an hour’s drive from these areas and we get paid £75 to £100 each per night.

The current line up had been solid for about a year. Our old guitarist is simply moving away and will be missed. Everyone turns up on time and helps out.

We get good feedback from venues and we aim to average about four gigs a month. We’re not quite there yet but it will happen.

Obviously we have lives outside of the band so we make it work with the wives/girlfriends/kids/day jobs. The band comes second to these things.

We have a laugh and take the p*ss out of each other.

About you:

The ideal candidate will be…

A solid player. If you play like Yngwie Malmsteen that’s a bonus but it’s not necessary. Most people in the audience are impressed with Sweet Child of Mine – not that we play it. They just want to party. We do like the odd solo though, so you gotta play lead.

Gainfully employed. You’ll have a day job. We will never make enough to live on and you will probably need to run a car, unless you live near one of us or on the right tube line maybes. We can drop you off but not miles out of the way.

Committed. You will not be in loads of bands. We would prefer this to be your main project. It’s hard enough making the diary work around everyone’s social lives.

Professional. You will have a pro attitude, pro gear and a straightforward approach. Work hard/play hard type attitude. By all means have a beer or whatever but if it affects your playing, don’t bother.

Cool (ish). If you dress like Kerry King, Keith Richards or Prince, that’s awesome, but you’re more likely to take a bit of inspiration from people like that. Don’t be too old either. We play to pub/club crowds. Fit in or stand out for the right reasons.

Sooooooo…..

If you tick some or all of these boxes, drop us a line with a video of your playing (iPhone video is fine) and a few details about yourself.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get out of the house, top up their wages, have a laugh, play with some decent musicians and make some new friends.
