Sophie Mahon and the Ready Mades are seeking a sax player.
The fantastic rising star that is Sophie Mahon is looking for another Ready Made for gigs and recordings.
Sophie Mahon is an exciting young singer-songwriter from Suffolk who, while being heavily influenced by the 80s New Wave scene, is able to craft a sound all her own.
Regularly featured by BBC Introducing – most recently in a live session and interview with two of her Ready Mades – she is a BurySound Battle of the Bands finalist with a string of high-profile gigs over the summer, including the fabled Maui Waui stage at the Bearded Theory Spring Gathering and the Strawberry Fair Festival at Cambridge. With one critically acclaimed EP out and another soon to follow, the future looks bright.
To complete the live line-up, we need a saxophone player, preferably one who loves a good 80s-esque New Wave face-melting sax solo and a good time. This isn’t a band for shoegazers, though things do get a tiny bit accidentally ‘prog’ now and again.
Important:
The ability to solo like a banshee possessed.
A good ear.
A commitment to make something great happen.
That you own one or more saxophones – a wireless mic system so you can move around would be a bonus.
Also, a second instrument such as percussion or keys would be handy for those times when there’s no sax going on. Worst case, I have a tambourine.
Not important:
Age, gender, sex, ethnicity, shoe size etc.
Rehearsals are in Norwich at weekends, though two of us travel up from Bury St Edmunds via Thetford (and could give someone a lift if they are in the surrounding areas.).
